Nature Cruise on Merrymeeting Bay and the Kennebec River
September 15 @ 2:45 pm - 6:30 pm
Cruise the Kennebec River and Merrymeeting Bay with CREA
Join CREA on a beautiful September Sunday afternoon for a Nature Cruise up the Kennebec River to Merrymeeting Bay. Pass through the swirling eddies of Chops Point into the serenity of the bay, one of the best places in the state to view bald eagles, migrating waterfowl, and shorebirds. Merrymeeting Bay is one of few places in the world where six major rivers (including our own Cathance River) come together to form an inland, freshwater tidal delta. This delta creates a richly diverse habitat that supports over fifty species of fish, rare plants, and more. If you’ve never seen our beautiful Merrymeeting Bay from a boat, don’t miss this opportunity! We may see seals in the Kennebec River enroute to the bay and a naturalist will share information about the unique flora and abundant wildlife of the bay. Bring a camera!
We will depart from Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The boat, “Merrymeeting,” is a 56′ motorized vessel with a covered lower deck and open seating on the upper deck. CREA has reserved 20 tickets on this boat which carries 50 passengers. CREA guests will gather at 2:45 pm at the Maine Maritime dock to collect their tickets from a CREA representative, then can get onto the boat at their leisure. The most popular seats on the boat are on the upper deck (limited to 20 people, first come, first serve), so if you want to be up there, plan to arrive promptly at 2:45.
Tickets are $42 for adults, $30 for children 6 to 12, and $6 for children under 6. You can purchase tickets online by filling out the form below, then clicking Pay with Paypal to complete the transaction. Or, send a check for the desired number of tickets to CREA at P.O. Box 187, Topsham, ME 04086 so it arrives before Sep. 12th. Please include your email so we can acknowledge receipt of your check and send details about the event.
