A Lighthearted Look at CREA’s Lovely Local Lichens (Wait List Only)

October 28 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

FREE

Take advantage of a crisp Fall morning to walk and learn about tree-hugging, rock-top dwelling and soil-loving lichens and their role in Maine’s environment. Tom Burrage, a retired cell biologist and a recent admirer of lichen lore, will begin with a quick review of lichen basics and will provide a close-up look at lichen structure before heading out into the Cathance River Preserve. Along the Preserve’s wide paths, Tom will point out the bold and shy among our Maine lichens and a few of the (not-to-be confused with lichens) mosses, liverworts, and fungi.

This program is FREE but registration is required. Please email crea@creamaine.org to register.

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation.
